BEHIND THE LENS

​My name is Amy Birch, I'm 24 years old and live in West Lothian. I'm engaged and we're currently planning our wedding.  

I've had a keen interest in photography for as long as I can remember. Whilst at school I studied photography and then went on to West Lothian College for a further two years studying NC and HNC. Whilst nearing the end of my final year, I was involved in a bad car accident and sadly unable to submit the last unit. I was told if I wanted the certificate, I would have to study the full course again including all units I had previously passed. This would also have incurred the course fee's as I would not have been funded to re-do the year again. Sadly this completely knocked my confidence and it felt like all of the passion had drained from me regarding photography. 

Recently the spark is back with a bang! 

I've upgraded my camera, purchased two new lenses and most recently I have bought studio lighting and a backdrop also. I'm so excited to be sharing this journey with you all. I cannot wait to see what the next few months bring.

Taking a moment to say a massive thank you to my family and friends for all the support they have given to me, from being my guinea pigs, having a camera constantly in their faces, listening to me stress about it all and being a shoulder to cry on. Thank you all whole heartedly, if it wasn't for all of you I'd never have followed this all through.
